Challenge #124 at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps: Inspiration Pic!

Hey, all!  Welcome to another weekend and a new challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  It's been a very difficult week for me, but I won't let that cloud my post for KKS.  I'll get into that in more detail in a couple of days, but for now, things are a bit raw so it helped greatly that I had this card, plus a few other projects, to distract me.

This week's challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is one that typically throws me for a loop.  Our hostess with mostest this week is Kerry and she has challenged us with an inspiration pic.  These are usually super tough, but the palette on this one really sang to me.  I love the colors and all of the unexpected patterns that come together to create something lovely and serene.  I used Rose from the Flower Girls collection by Annie Rodrigue.  She seemed perfect for conveying the florals details so gorgeously displayed on the area rug.  Then I just kind of pulled cues from the palette and went from there.  I liked the idea of using a lot of pattern, so I quickly (without too much thought) sifted through my scrap bin and came up with some pretty random stuff... hopefully I made it work.  You can be the judge, but be gentle, 'cuz like I said, I've had a rough week :)  In fact, don't be the judge, just lie to me and tell me you like it.  That would be great.

Anyway, I urge you to play along along this week.  If you do, you might randomly be selected to win the image that Kerry has used on her card.  Wouldn't that be awesome!  Find all of the latest and greatest KKS images in the Kraftin' Kimmie Shop.  Lots of great stuff to be had!!!

Okey, dokey!  See you in a couple of days.  Until then, stay krafty!

A Mo Manning Cutie

Hey, everybody!  What a great weekend!  Saturday's garage sale was a huge success and we managed to get rid of lots of stuff with the super sales skills of my sister, Trissi, and her boyfriend, Sean.  Purging stuff is very therapeutic, so by the end of the sale, I felt completely relaxed.  I want to thank the folks who read my blog and turned out for the festivities and purchased some of our junk...err...umm...I mean treasures...LOL!  No, really, your patronage was greatly appreciated!

Last week, I received a very important phone call from Nancy at CP2 telling me that my Penny Black order had arrived in the shop.  WOO HOO!  I had been wanting to get my Copic stained hands on these sweet images by Mo Manning for PB, for a very long time.  OMG!  They are adorable and SO much fun to color!  This one is called Sweet Day and I know for a fact that Nancy still has these available in her shop.  I love this image because it reminds me of a strawberry dress that my mother made me when I was a wee lass.  It had strawberries embroidered all over it and I just LOVED that dress.  I think I even have pictures of me wearing it in one of those fancy schmancy Olan Mills photo sittings.

Anyway, Mo really has a way of capturing the joy of childhood, so I happily picked up about 4 or 5 of these images.  I hope to have another one colored up in the next day or two.

Okay, that's it for me :D  Catch ya later!  Until then, stay crafty!

Challenge #123 at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps: Tags!

Hello!  How are things at your end of the keyboard?  Things are pretty swell over here in the Land of Enchantment.  Yesterday, a realtor brought a couple by to see our house.  I was pretty excited so needless-to-say the OCD kicked in and I spent most of yesterday polishing and spit-shining an already clean house.  Seems redundant, but there's something therapeutic about housecleaning.  Maybe it strengthens my spiritual connection to my domestic guru, Martha Stewart.  Okay, maybe not, but you have to admit, it feels pretty darn good to look around after you're finished and see everything sparkling with cleanliness.  That is, until you spy your really pretty coffee table that you painstakingly rubbed and buffed to a high gloss, and see tiny paw prints scattered across it.  Did wild raccoons break into my house while I was getting high on Windex?  Nope, not enough toes.  This could only be the work of one critter...the infamous Super Titus Devil Kitty.

Speaking of which, Super Titus Devil Kitty (from here on out, to be referred to only as Titus, for legal purposes) went on a field trip to my sister's house while the potential buyers looked around our house.  It's a 5-minute drive to get there, but thanks to Titus' non-stop crying, it was the longest 5-minutes of my life. As soon as his furry behind hit the cat carrier, the crying started.  AND...not just soft meows, I'm talking full on yowling sobs.  You'd of thought I was trying to steal his kidney!  2 1/2 minutes into this trip, I passed the neighborhood Sonic and seriously considered dropping him off for a wee bit.  Maybe set him up with an order of Popcorn Chicken and a Vanilla Dr. Pepper, and swing back by in a hour to retrieve him.  Would I need some sort of a claim ticket for that?  Oh well, I digress.  Besides, I figured once I got to Trissi's and let him out of the carrier, he would play with her cats and want to have a look around.  Everything would be better.  WRONG!

We get there, I take him inside and I spring him from his portable jail cell.  He proceeds to exit the carrier and look around the house, but continues to cry at the top of his lungs for the next 30-minutes.  At one point the crying stopped and I went to check on him only to find him hiding under my sister's claw foot tub in her bathroom.  He is a rather tubby fellow and much to my chagrin, he was firmly wedged in there.  I actually had a difficult time pulling him out.  Taking a sledge hammer to my sister's claw foot tub was not on my "to do" list today.  Sorry.  He eventually settled under a credenza in the office and would only stop crying if I pulled out a chair and sat where he could see me.  If I left the chair or god-forbid the office, the crying would start allover again.  Sigh.  Held hostage by an 18lb cat.  What a day.  You'll be happy to know that Titus is back home terrorizing my 2 older kitties and creating general mayhem in a more familiar environment.

Enough Titus talk...there's a new challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps this week and the lovely hostess this go round is none other than Sandie!  Sandie is asking everyone to incorporate a tag into their design.  That can mean creating a tag or using a tag.  Whatever floats your boat.  I used some really pretty DP by October Afternoon and one of the sheets contained lots of lovely images perfect for trimming out.  Low and behold, there was even a tag ;D  My image du jour is also one of 6 gorgeous images being featured as a Frugal Friday special.  Her name is Annette and she is sassy.  I made her a fiery red-head using a color combo I found on this lovely artist's page, Crafty Mummy.

Head to the shop and check out the other Frugal Friday specials.  You'll find Annette in that group, as well.  Also, don't forget to stop by the KKS Challenge Blog and see what the Krafty Girls cooked up for this week's theme.

I best skedaddle.  The clock's a ticking and we're having a garage sale this morning.  Wish me luck!

Karate Boy

Hey, everybody!  My blogposts are becoming few and far between it seems.  We've been busy readying our house to list it for sale and finally did that about a week ago.  This week, we've been doing some last minute touch ups on paint and trim.  Tomorrow, I'm going to spend the afternoon polishing the wrought iron door and window accents with liquid car wax, a tip I found out about from my super smart friend, Google.  Turns out I should have been doing this once every six-months.  Why didn't you tell me sooner, Google?  Maybe you're not so smart after all.  Oh, I didn't ask?  Sure, turn it around on me now.

Saturday, we're having a garage sale.  Of course, we don't know how to have a plain old garage sale like regular folk.  Instead, ours will be more like a party.  We've already invited our friends and plan on having plenty of donuts on hand to entice the masses.  We'll pass on having coffee, because knowing me, in my heightened garage sale state, I will no doubt sell the coffee maker if someone makes me an offer...lol!  That would make Kirk very sad (and grumpy).  Last time we had a garage sale, we started at 8:00am and sold everything by 9:15am and there was no short supply of stuff.  Hope this one goes over just as well.  Oh, and let me just add that I will have some craft stuff for sale (stamps, embellishments, etc.) so if you're in the Albuquerque area, stop by 3840 Sunbird Dr NW and pay us a little visit.  Bring cash...hahaha!

Okay, enough house stuff...I did actually steal away a few hours yesterday to make this card for my sister's boss.  She had originally requested a Ninja themed Easter card.  Yeah, I know, a little difficult to round up images for that, so I opted for this wonderful digi image called Karate Boy from Mo's Digital Pencil.  While I was perusing Mo's site, I ended up plopping 6 other images in my cart by accident (yeah, right...accident my tuches)!  I couldn't resist.  Hopefully I will find some time to play with them in the next few weeks.  Oh, and do you want to know what I received in return for this card?  3 dozen fresh chicken and duck eggs!  Yep, that's a pretty fine trade, if you ask me ;D  Love this bartering stuff.  We should totally go back to that way of life.

Okay, that's it for me.  Catch ya later!  Stay crafty!
